Background
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are objectives adopted by member states of United Nations formally in 2015. These SDGs aim at ending poverty, protecting the planet, ensuring peace, effective partnerships, and prosperity for all. All member states of the United Nations committed to work towards attaining the 17 goals within 15 years.
Good Health and well-being (SDG 3) is central to all the SDGs. To achieve sustainable health, stakeholders need to work collaboratively and devise innovative and evidence-based methods of addressing the different health challenges. However, this is impeded by:
a) the inadequate understanding of how all the other SDGs are related to or contribute to good health and well-being,
b) inadequate integration of principles and tools for innovation in sustainable health in tertiary training of professionals.
The inability of individuals and governments to realize the interdependence of the SDGs often results into poorly aligned and ineffective approaches towards health challenges and more so, the attainment of sustainable health. Thus, in this course, we aim to train professionals to identify gaps in the delivery of the sustainable health in their organization(s) or communities, develop evidence based innovative solutions, and implement solutions in an integrated and collaborative manner across all concerned sectors.
