Course ObjectivesBy the end of the course, you will be able to:
Course OverviewThis is an 8 week course that will take place across 4 modules . A summary of what you will learn in each module can be found below:Module 1 In the first module, expect to think outside the box by considering the place of poetry within your content area. By accessing the ideas of experienced practitioners in the field, you will get to understand the boundless potential of viewing poetry as an instructional method in the classroom. You will also get to connect with like-minded practitioners, sharing and developing new ideas. Module 2 The second module will implore you to imagine using poetry in your own teaching context. You will get to tumble into the world of poetry and assess the suitability of the poems to a purpose that is specific to you. You will also get to embark on some creative activities and get inspired by the work of others. Module 3 The third module turns your poetic imaginings into real-world experiences, where you will start to design your own classroom activity, using foundational elements of instructional design during the conceptualisation stages of this activity. Module 4 In the final module, you will use technological tools to model for others the best practice you have uncovered in the course and provide constructive peer feedback to the other educational professionals you have met.
AssessmentsThere are a range of assessments that you will complete in the course that will be reflective, collaborative, creative and analytical in nature. The course will be worth 100 credits. |
