Course: KINE-1234 Theory of Coaching Tennis T&TR 12:15 pm-1:45 pm

June 26th-August 10th

This course will be meeting on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:15 pm-1:45 pm. This course will provide information that pertains to the various aspects of Tennis. These include: The rules of Tennis, The History of the sport, Scoring Values, Rules of play, and techniques used in play.

Attendance for each Lecture Lesson is mandatory as relevant information needed to complete the assignments will be discussed and constitutes as a part of your grade. 

There will be a series of Quizzes and Discussion Boards that will be opened each week. Quizzes will be of Multiple Choice (10Q's) format. There are 2 max attempts and only the highest grade will be recorded. There is no backtracking for Quiz questions. No time limit. Discussion Boards will have to pertain to the designated questions/criteria that are asked and will be evaluated for content. Also, discussions will require 2 replies to your peers for full credit to be achieved. (Online netiquette requires that individuals be respectful of each other and greet each other appropriately in all circumstances through discussions and replies.)

Assignments will consist of writing analysis papers (2 pages Double-Spaced in MLA format) and will be submitted/uploaded via the Canvas course. There will be 2 assigned analysis papers throughout the course.

Attendance is mandatory as it counts towards 10% of the overall grade.

Quizzes are worth 30% of the grade (6 total Quizzes)

Discussion Boards are worth 15% of the grade, 2 replies are worth 15% of the grade (total 30%) (6 total DBS each with 2 replies)

Assignments account for 30% of the overall grade. ( 2 total analysis papers)

Course Objectives:

Students will expand their knowledge of the Sport of Tennis. This includes going over the History, Scoring Values, Tournaments, and Techniques used when playing. The students' mastery in the course will pertain to their ability in utilizing learned information from the Lecture Lessons and be applied to their coursework on due dates. That will include: Quizzes, Assignments, and Discussion Boards.

Course Expectations:

Students are expected to self-assess themselves when participating in Assigned Grading Material throughout the course. Attendance is of importance and participation in the course will allow students to engage in the material that is presented throughout the Lectures.

Online Course Policy:

Online netiquette requires that individuals be respectful of each other and greet each other appropriately in all circumstances through discussions and replies. 

Plagiarism will not be tolerated in any way in this course. Please work individually and within your own work.

Sexual Harassment or Indication of Violence will not be permitted and will be immediately subject to Police Enforcement.

Late Work will be accepted but subject to a 10% penalization for each day late.
