Objectives:

The purpose of the course is to orient students with the physical and digital resources of the media center, and to introduce students to digital citizenship and media literacy.

By the end of the course, students will:

  • know the individuals who work in the media center
  • be familiar with the layout of the media center
  • recall how to get help from the appropriate place or person
  • practice using digital resources to research a topic
  • access ebooks
  • analyze the effects of social media

  • Read through or watch the material that is posted.
  • Complete the Assignment, Quiz, or Discussion for each day.

 

Expectations:

  • log in to the course every day
  • complete assignments in a timely manner
  • be respectful of your classmates and instructor
  • check your email everyday
  • adhere to the BHS honor code

 

Grading Info:

The course has four modules. There is one summative test at the end of the course.

Each daily activity is work 10 points, and the final summative test is worth 40 points.

Assignments will be graded within one week.

 

Late Work:

Late Work will be accepted for up to one week with a penalty of 10% per day late.

 

Technical Requirements:

  • School issued Chromebook with working camera and microphone
  • Access to Canvas platform

 

Prerequisite Skills:

  • Ability to navigate Canvas platform
