English: • Word study, grammar, and independent reading • Integration of New Jersey Student Learning Standards in every unit • Varying genres within each unit to give a comprehensive overview of various approaches to a given topic • Expository, descriptive, narrative, and argument writing infused throughout the units. • Research skills, with an emphasis on evaluating the credibility of sources • Transfer of effective communication skills to all disciplines • Extension of critical thinking skills.
