Goethe-Zertifikat A1 (Start German 1) Exam Schedule
The official list below outlines reserved time periods, not confirmed exams. Check with your instructor if the final exam for the course will be held during this time period.

Locations
The Exam Schedule lists locations where DEP conducts operator certification exams.

If you require special accommodations due to chronic illness, hearing or visual impairment, or any other disability make contact with the exam provider and provide the documents when you register.
The Faculty Dashboard in Workday offers an option to "View My Teaching Schedule" that allows faculty to discover their exam schedules. Additionally, the Registrar's Office has a list of exam times for courses in which an exam is required by NYSED regulations. For evening classes, final exams are scheduled during the regular class meeting time during the final exam week.

Registration
The exam schedule is accessible online and students are encouraged to review it. However it is crucial to note that the exam schedule may alter at any moment. For this reason, students should consult their instructors to make sure they have the correct date and time for their test. Students should also make sure to print the official list and bring it with them for their exams.
In addition to the exam schedule, students should also familiarize themselves with the exam guidelines, the terms and conditions. These are accessible on the exam's individual page. Upon registration, students acknowledge that they have read and agree to these conditions and terms.

Exam locations make every effort to accommodate students who have special needs. The nature and severity of these needs must be stated on the registration form, and then confirmed by an attestation of a doctor. The exam locations must also respect and maintain confidentiality.
If students are scheduled to take three tests on the same day, they should contact their department or instructor to schedule a make-up test. While it is possible to take three tests in one day, it could cause an increase in stress levels and affect the quality of the test. In addition, the professor might not be able offer a makeup exam on another day.
Students should review the course material prior to taking the exam and practice their German skills. The exam is a paper-based test which tests the ability to speak, read, and write in German. The results of the test are reported using a scale from A1 to C2. Students who pass the exam are awarded a Goethe-Zertifikat. The certificate demonstrates the achievement of language level A1. This level corresponds with the first level of the six-level scale of competency set out in the Common European Framework of Reference for Foreign Languages. The examination is free of cost. Students must bring an ID that is valid for government purposes to the exam. Those who do not have a valid photo ID are disqualified from the examination.
Fees
If you have completed your studies at Elan Academy and wish to receive a Goethe-Zertifikat A1 (start German 1), you'll need to pay the exam fee. This fee is in addition the course fee.
Practice tests let you get a feel for the style of the test, the language, and the difficulty of the questions on the test. They let you assess your knowledge level, find areas of knowledge that aren't covered and increase your chances of passing the exam.
Please take note that the exam fee is not refundable. Exam results can only by electronically sent, not via phone.
