Category A1 Rules For Motorcyclists
Category a1 rules are for those who wish to drive small motorbikes. These motorcycles have a maximum capacity of 35 kW. They cannot be directly derived from vehicles that have more than double their power.
The open drone operation category can be divided into three subcategories: A1 to A3. You can fly drones that have the class label C0 or A1 in the subcategory A1 (flying over people) up to January 2024.
A1
Category A1 is the earliest of three drone categories that are controlled by EASA. It applies to aircrafts up to the maximum takeoff mass (MTOM) which is 25 kilograms. It requires a log of flights as well as a flight schedule and remote identification systems and a geoawareness. The drone must also be in the view of the pilot at all at all times. It is prohibited to fly in the vicinity of people or areas that are used for recreational, commercial or industrial purposes. The drone must remain below 120 meters.

A1 applicants must have at least 16 years experience in two-wheeled vehicles. They must also have completed the compulsory basic training and pass both a theory and a practical test. They must also have an authentic medical certificate.
A1 license holders are allowed to drive mopeds with the capacity of cylinders not greater than 1250 cc and a power-to-weight ratio that is not more than 0.01 kW/kg. They can also drive motorcycles that have the maximum capacity of 125 cc as well as trikes and quad bikes as well as quad-bikes.

You can also fly drones that have the maximum weight of 4kg in the A2 category However, they must be kept at a safe distance away from people when taking off and landing. The drones must be at least 30m in horizontal distance from people in low-speed mode, or 5m when they are not in use. If you want to fly larger drones, then you'll need to apply for an operator's license in the particular category. A2 can also allow you to fly transitional drones which aren't CE registered, but have been modified to reduce the chance of collisions with humans. These drones will only be allowed to be flown in A2 up until the end of 2022. After that, they will need to adhere to the A3 rules.
The A1 and A2 categories can help you become a confident and safe motorcyclist. The number of lessons required is contingent on your capability and the progress you are making in learning, but you must complete a specific amount of special rides. This includes a minimum of five lessons on country roads as well as four on highways, and three lessons in darkness or dawn.
A3
This type of flight is for drones having a maximum take-off mass of up to 25kg. Although it is a less risk operation, extreme precautions should be taken to reduce the risk of accidents. Drones that have a Class identification label C2 can be operated in subcategory A2 provided that the drone meets the requirements for size and the remote pilot is able to pass an additional exam of theoretical knowledge. This exam is designed to allow the remote pilot to assess their understanding of the technical and operational mitigations that address the additional risks associated with flying slightly bigger drones (class A2, below 4kg mass) close to people. The certificate of competence to fly Category A2 is given upon successful completion of this test.
There are transitional arrangements which allow older drones that are not certified, to be operated under the categories A1 or A2 for a period of two years following the implementation of the new EU regulations. The drones of the past cannot be flown over the heads of people and must be operated with an A2 CofC.
To operate a drone that falls under this category you must pass the regular online flyer ID test, and then complete an additional theoretical test. Additionally, you must declare that you have acquired some knowledge of your drone and then submit a written declaration of competence. These requirements are similar to the driving licence model whereby the person who is first granted a licence for a less powerful vehicle category will be able to be granted access to a higher category.
A4
The DOH is preparing specific guidelines for category A4. They will be in line with the other procedures and will include details such as the number of dressing changes per day. These guidelines will be presented to the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infections, (IATF-EID), and the DOH National Immunization Technical Advisory Group. Before they are finalized, the guidelines will be reviewed and approved by both the DOH National Immunization Technical Advisory Group and IATF-EID.
In this category, drones with an identification label for class C0 and C1 are able to fly within a minimum distance of 50 metres from individuals who aren't involved. This is a very low-risk category, but strict precautions must be taken to avoid accidents. Drones classified as A1 or A2 must be able to pass an additional theoretical test before they can operate in this subcategory.
This test aims to determine the level of knowledge about the risks associated with flying drones in close proximity to people. Successful completion of the test earns a certificate of competence for this subcategory. The pilot must maintain a minimum of 30 metres between the aircraft and any uninvolved persons, or 5 metres when flying in slow-flight mode.
