Goethe-Zertifikat A1 (Start German 1) Exam Schedule

Locations
The Exam Schedule lists the locations in which DEP conducts operator qualification tests. Check out the exam pages for more details on exam content, exam rules and conditions, and other guidelines. If you require special accommodations due to chronic illness or hearing or visual impairment, contact the exam provider directly. Make sure to submit a thorough documentation upon registration.
The Faculty Dashboard in Workday includes a "View My Teaching Schedule" which lets faculty locate their exam schedules. Additionally the Registrar's Office has a list of exam times for courses where an exam is required by NYSED regulations. Final exams for classes that are held in the evenings are scheduled for the regular class meeting times of the final examination weeks.

Registration
The exam schedule is available on the internet, and students are advised to review it. However it is important to note that the final exam schedule can be altered at any time. Students should therefore consult their instructors for the correct time and date of their exam. Students should be sure to print the official list and bring it to their exams.
Students must also familiarize themselves with the guidelines and terms of the exam in addition to the schedule.

Exam locations will do their best to accommodate those who have special requirements. The nature and extent of these requirements should be stated on the registration form and confirmed by a medical attestation. The exam locations must also adhere to confidentiality.
If a student is scheduled to take three exams on the same day, they should contact their department or instructor to schedule a make-up test. Although it is possible to take three tests in a single day, this can cause a high stress level and can affect the quality of the exam. The professor might not be able give an additional test to make up for the missed day.
Before taking the exam, students must prepare by studying their course material and practice their German skills. The exam is a paper-based test which assesses the ability to read, speak and write in German. The test results are reported using a scale from A1 to C2. Students who succeed in passing the test are awarded an Goethe-Zertifikat. The certificate confirms that the student has achieved language level A1. This level corresponds with the first level of the six-level scale of competency set out in the Common European Framework of Reference for Foreign Languages. The test is free of charge. Students must bring a valid government issued ID to the test. Those who do not have an ID with a valid photo are disqualified from the exam.

Fees
You'll need to pay a fee for the examination in order to obtain the Goethe-Zertifikat (start German 1) after you have completed your Elan Academy studies. This fee is in addition to the course fee.
Practice assessments allow you to get familiar with the format of the test, the language, and the difficulty of the questions on the test. They help you evaluate your level, discover gaps in your knowledge and increase your chances of passing the test.
It is important to note that the exam fee isn't refundable. Exam results can only be sent via email and not by phone.
