1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've examined. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can produce up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the most powerful model) they employ intelligent mapping to design precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles like cords and furniture leg. They also feature carpet boost, a feature that increases the robot's power when it sees an abundance of dirt on the carpet to get it clean quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on floors that were bare, and they are particularly adept in cleaning dog hair. However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. For one, the Q5's navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to become entangled in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate rooms with a lot of people efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't come with an image sensor that lets it see the corners of an area.

It's still a great deal, especially if your office or home has a lot of unfinished floors and you're looking to save money. It's also quiet and operates while you're at work or in school. The only thing it doesn't have that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on very well and can't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle however. And, if you have to, you can swap the mopping pad for dry ones in just a few minutes.

It also did a great job of cleaning a mix of floors and rooms that had mixed flooring types, including certain area rug. Its obstacle detection was top-notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. Additionally a recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to continue where it left off is ideal for busy families.

It also mopses with a single pad that uses an oscillating motion that cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've tested. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying, washable base.
