1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums that we have examined. They feature motors that are top-of-the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. As with other premium iRobot models (including the top pick) they utilize smart mapping technology to create detailed floor plans and avoid common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also feature Carpet Boost, a feature which boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our bare floor tests, and they're particularly adept at cleaning pet hair. There are some issues however, which hinder them from being our top option. For instance, the Q5's navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology which means it's susceptible to become entangled in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tight spaces very well in our tests. It also doesn't come with an image sensor that lets it see the corners of an area.

It's still a good deal, especially if your office or home has a lot of unfinished floors and you want to save some money. It's also very quiet and works while you're at work or school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming that is available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle however. And, if you need to, you can switch the mopping pad to dry ones in a matter of seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also has a self-emptying bin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robotic hoover for carpets, however it isn't as effective as some of its competitors in terms of deep cleaning.

auto vacuum -performing mop and vacuum combination makes use of advanced sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste, and it learns your home's layout over time for more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average compared to other models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when in a carpeted area, which helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be utilized to reach under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop that could complete the entire house with the battery at 66 percent left. It did a good cleaning job on different flooring and rooms with different flooring types, including certain area rug. Its obstacle detection was superb and it stayed clear of fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles cables.

best budget robot vacuum 's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming this feature, which we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With a sleek circular design that appears more like a normal Roomba rather than the compact models, this robot vacuum and mop combo is among the most appealing looking in our tests. The latest model from iRobot is also its smartest. It features advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).

It's also the only robotic vacuum or mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our testing. This is due to a combination modern sensors, including a restructured light system, camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can completely self-refill and empty its base station, and boasts an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It has an easy mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's an eerily noisy device which could be problematic if you run it in the morning before work or in the evening as you try to fall asleep.

It's also quite expensive, but it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally capable and more attractive. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable however, it will cost you more and create more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features that let you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device like Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, and washes and dries mop pads.

The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and detect obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its premium competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, though this wasn't foolproof in our tests and could be confused with obstructions or power cords.

Its vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to complete the task. It also comes with an attribute known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for various areas of the house based on how dirty these areas tend to be.

For larger houses, it's worth opting for one with zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean one particular area of your home by using the app or voice controls. If you have a lot of furniture, a stairway mode is also a good option. For busy families, a recharge feature and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to resume where it left off could be very beneficial.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you might expect from its price tag. It vacuums well and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using a single pad and a rotating motion which is cleaner than the majority mop cleaners for robots that we've tested. It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate an exercise in mapping, which gathers information on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or organize a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize the most soiled areas to improve performance. The app also grants access to many features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a powerful suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for hair of pets. It also has the ability to create a spot-clean that thoroughly cleans a particular area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like cute eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, however it is more likely to get caught in low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums we have examined. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that isn't able to double as a bin for emptying.
