Top Rated Robot Vacuums
A robot vacuum will keep the floors clean enough to cut down on the frequency you'll need to manually vacuum. Choose one that has good navigation, can clean corners and stairs, and has a large dust bin that requires emptying only once in a while.
There are models that mop and charge themselves this is an option essential for families with pets or children. A majority of the top performers in our tests have excellent obstacle avoidance.
1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO
The i3+ EVO is identical to its sibling the i3 EVO. They differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. This makes the i3+ a great option for those looking for a hands-off, fully automated cleaning experience, but aren't afraid of having to empty their dust bin manually when it is full.
Both robots do well picking up surface debris on carpets and hard floors, and they're very adept at getting around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates intelligent maps of your home that help the i3+ EVO navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. The i3+ doesn't have the same obstacle avoidance capabilities as the i7+ or other top-rated robots that we tested. It can get stuck on power cords and socks and have difficulty navigating between surfaces, such as hardwood and rug.
iRobot recommends clearing areas in which the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, which includes getting rid of any clutter or toys it might encounter. It's also recommended to keep the bin and filter clean so they don't become clogged with dirt. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is full or its battery is empty it goes back to its docking station, automatically empties its debris into the station's dust bin and continues cleaning where it left off. The battery's lifespan is around an hour and a half of constant use. It takes three hours to fully charge.
2. IRobot Roomba i7+
The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the most powerful model in the iRobot flagship line, and it is equipped with the most recent features. It has self-charging and self-navigating. But the most important feature is its self-emptying bin. This eliminates the need for routine maintenance.
The Roomba I7+ is able to map rooms more efficiently with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also integrates with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning jobs and direct your robot by voice or through the app.
smart vacuum cleaner i7+ is faster and more agile in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also cleaned large pet hair pieces from all surfaces, including carpeting. The main advantage it has over the Eufy is its self-emptying bin that eliminates major sources of maintenance and lowers the cost of recurring maintenance.
We were also impressed by the i7+’s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot on how to begin, stop, or pause cleaning sessions and also to move around the room, and even vacuum a specific area. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was easy and easy with the iRobot Home app. Once connected we were able to give the i7+ voice commands like "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and evaluating performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is a sports car in a sea of vacuums powered by cordless that resemble minivans and buses. It has the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum for most households however, it can also fit nicely on the table for a coffee or a bookshelf where you can wave it around like an enchanted wand.
The V10 is powered by seven cells of energy-dense Lithium-ion batteries that produces energy that lasts for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filter system captures allergens, and then releases fresh air into your home. Its cleaning head is specially designed and drives bristles of nylon that are stiff and deep into carpet to suck up large dust and crumbs. It comes with three suction modes that can be adapted to the specific task. It is able to swiftly switch from handheld to floor vacuum, and vice versa.
This model has a dock which charges the Dyson to 100% in 3.5 hours. It also offers an easy access to two attachments as well as an wand. This is a significant improvement over earlier Dysons which require a long charge and are difficult to store.
The main drawback of the V10 is its limited run time. Its claims on the market that it can last up to 60 minutes of running time are a bit misleading as CR's tests show. This is an average, not an exceptional, time for a battery-powered cordless vac. It's enough time to vacuum a typical-sized home but not enough to reach every spot. (A second time generally works). This model has its own advantages however: it's light and more maneuverable than earlier Dysons cordless models, and its vacuuming ability is significantly better on carpets with low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694
One of iRobot's most popular robot vacuums the 694 is a basic model that's a great choice for people who don't want to invest too much on a robot. It's capable of sucking up a variety of debris types and sizes during our tests, and often goes over the same areas several times to get a really thorough clean. Its flat front side helps it reach into corners and along the walls' edges and walls, which is a nice addition.
Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt to stay clear of obstacles and navigate your home, but it lacks the mapping capabilities of more sophisticated models like our top choices such as the i3+ EVO and the j7+ series. This means that it may get stuck on things like phone cords or furniture that isn't in good condition, and often will run out of battery before making it back to its original location.
The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in many ways because it has fewer components that need regular cleaning, is fitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, has lower recurring costs, has more advanced automation capabilities and is more efficient in moving itself. It also has a bigger dustbin and is charged faster.
The elegant RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 for most purposes, as it has a better battery life, can change the suction power mode by hand and has physical boundary strips, and can be operated by your phone's voice assistant. It's also more durable, has a stronger motor, and is more effective on floors with low pile and bare.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a name is seen on a variety of home electronics, so it comes as no surprise that they're one of the most reputable mop and robot vacuum manufacturers. Jet Bot AI+ has an advanced onboard technology that allows to navigate and avoid obstacles.
The app offers a variety of options to customize your robotic cleaner, such as virtual barriers mopping water levels, behavior modification, docking frequency settings, and more. It's simple to comprehend and user-friendly, as is the case with other Samsung devices.
In our testing of the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors, and also handled dog hair (on carpet) very well, picking up 86% of it. It was not as successful in avoiding taller objects like cords or socks. This was disappointing. It's also more expensive than some of the other models we tried, which might be a deterrent for some shoppers.
The smart vacuum has an onboard camera that can be accessed via the app. You can also set up a live stream from the robot's cleaning station. This feature allows you to monitor your children or pets while you're away. The filter and dustbin are washable to make cleanup quick and easy. The Jet Bot AI+ also has a clean station that self-empties, which helps keep the robot's trash bin clean and optimizes its suction power for each cleaning.
6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum
Contrary to other robotic vacuums that are made for carpets and hard floors, Black and Decker robots are designed specifically for hard floors. They have an extra-wide cleaning path, as well as dust bins that are 2X larger than the competition. This allows them to keep the area clean for longer. Plus, they include two side sweepers to clean up around edges and in corners. The POWERSERIES model also comes with AutoSense which adjusts the power level depending on whether it's cleaning up dirt that is on the surface or embedded. The vacuum also has an app that lets users to see an interactive map, control functions, and create schedules. You can also check the status of the vacuum and then send it to its dock for charging at the press of a single button. The app allows you to customize the lights on top of the vacuum using different colors so you can easily tell what areas it's focusing on or where it's gotten stuck.
The app allows you to manually steer the robot when needed. For instance my living room rug has a darkly-colored border that can trip up some of the other robots I've tried. However the HRV 425BL continued to move across the border without registering it as a cliff. Also, the ability to create the weekly cleaning schedule is a great time-saving convenience.
