UPVC Replacement Door Handles


As time passes, the handles on your doors will get worn out and require replacement. It is important to be able to match the dimensions of the old handles when replacing them.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever handle or lever is a modern-day door handle designed to work with new or replacement doors. This type of handle is available in many designs and finishes. A variety of manufacturers provide this handle including Avocet, ERA, Fullex, Hoppe, Mila, Millenco & Yale.

The handle can be positioned and angled to suit all users. The handle has been tested to 200 000 cycles. Lever Pad

The lever pad upvc handle is different from the lever handles that are commonly found on doors. These handle types are either operated by one spindle, or two spindles, either inline or offset. They are usually used on UPVC doors with double glazing and come in a range of finishes and variations.

The handles have been tested to a minimum of 200 000 cycles and are available in various finishes including White and Silver, as well as Chrome & Gold. The finish is compliant with BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, thereby giving the handle a high level of durability and performance for the intended use.

All of the UPVC lever pad styles for handles are supplied with the spindle and screws, allowing them to be put on a new or existing uPVC door. When selecting a replacement UPVC handle and spindle it is essential to match the dimensions of the PZ on both the multipoint lock and the uPVC door. This measurement can also be called 'handle centre' or cylinder centres'. It is important to match the correct handles.

Once you have the proper PZ size, you'll have to ensure that the lever pads and push pads are a appropriate shape to accommodate the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant handles that you need for your doors. Euro Cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins, with internal and external doors typically requiring different levels of security.

Choosing the right cylinder is essential; it is contingent on the way your doors and handles are utilized. Doors that are external, for instance are required to be fitted with cylinders that are more secure, whereas doors inside can be secured with the standard cylinder. Some cylinders have extra features that can improve security, for instance, anti drill or anti bump properties.

To ensure that the euro cylinder is of the right size for your door, it should be measured correctly. The cylinder should be measured from the hole for fixing screws in the middle to the other end of the cylinder including the thumb turn if you have one. It is recommended to do this with the lock in place however when this isn't possible, you can remove it to measure. It is crucial to not have a extension of the cylinder beyond the handle or escutcheon. This could make it vulnerable to lock snapping attacks.

Most newer cylinders have been constructed with anti-drill and bump resistance features that are built into their design. These features are designed to minimize the chances of an attack by forcing the cylinder rotate in a different direction. This helps deflect the attack and keep your doors safe.

There are also cylinders that are designed to withstand snapping. This is a more frequent method of attack on cylinders where the break line inside the lock is smashed with a special tool to break the front of the cylinder and allow the door to open. This is a faster and more convenient method of gaining access than a multipoint locking system. It also leaves no evidence of the break-in which could delay insurance claims.

Spring Cassette

This spring cassette sits inside the base of the door handle backplate providing a sprung solution to return the multipoint lock handles back to their normal position after usage. In the past, a lot of these types of handle did not have a spring built into them, and as a result, they can droop or drop once the locking mechanism is removed. This simple feature is one of the most effective ways to fix this, and is an excellent way to stop your doors made of upvc from getting stuck in an open or closed position, as these are not always easy to close manually.

These spring cassettes were designed to be used with a spring multipoint locks. They are not compatible with unsprung handles and you'll have to cut a hole in the backplate to allow them to fit. They are sold as a single unit. They have a square-cut out that is able to accommodate an 8mm shaft.

These spring cassettes provide an excellent value solution for the problem of sagging door handles. They are easy to fit and will prolong the lifespan of your uPVC doors.
