The Band Toto Asia

Toto expanded its production facilities overseas, and doing business in France and Germany, Indonesia, Korea and Taiwan, Thailand and the People's Republic of China. Toto considered North America as a growth market for Washlet bidet seats and toilets, in contrast to its "base" markets of Japan and China.

Dhaniram Toto recorded Toto words to ensure that the future generation could understand them. Many words were replaced with foreign ones. For example dui, which was Bengali for verandah, was used.

Origins

Toto's early history, which began in 1917, was a reflection of Japan's rapid economic growth. In the beginning of its existence, the company manufactured goods to meet demand for new, modern urban housing. To accomplish this, it employed the first tunnel kiln in the country to produce ceramics in a continuous flow. 안전놀이터 순위 pioneered the use of automation to control production, which allows for greater efficiency and consistency.

In the late 1980s the company began to expand overseas in order to profit from sales and new markets. It established the Cera Trading Company, importing and selling other manufacturers' products to complement its own lines of plumbing fittings and sanitary earthenware. This strategy increased sales and expanded the firm's global market share.

By the 1990s, Toto had shifted its focus to research and development of household appliances that use water. It also improved its distribution system to better serve its customers and improve profit. The company implemented a just-in-time method of managing supply chains, and it used the same methodology in its sales program. This resulted in a greater level of customer satisfaction.

Toto continued to innovate toilet technology. The latest toilet, for example, has a strong tornado flush that is more environmentally green than traditional toilets. Toto uses recycled water in its manufacturing process and also has a green purchasing policy. In addition to toilets, Toto manufactures faucets and bathtubs and hand dryers that are more efficient in terms of energy consumption than typical models.

The first Toto museum opened in 2015. It hosts exhibits on Toto's most famous products and their evolution, the group companies (all of which are ceramics), the history of plumbing, and even bath units. In a separate gallery you can see Toto products that are sold across the world. The museum even has a bathroom that features the WASHLET toilet, as well as other toilet-related innovations.

Before beginning the formation of Toto members of the group performed session work for various musicians. Boz Scaggs album Silk Degrees featured keyboardist David Paich and guitarists Mike Porcaro & Steve Lukather as well as drummers Jeff Porcaro & Steve Lukather. They also performed on records by Steely Dan, Seals and Crofts, and Sonny and Cher.

Discography

With a name as evocative as Asia one would expect the group to be prog queens and kings - but it's actually a fairly simple rock group. The group began as a quartet, and they released two albums - 1979's self-titled debut album and 1980's Armed to the Teeth. But even though the band have a wide range of musical backgrounds, their biggest success came in 1982 with Toto IV.

The album was a huge blockbuster, however it did not come without its share of problems. Record companies put the band on the position with the order "give us a hit record or we'll sack you" and the pressure was on to deliver. Luckily for Toto, they did and they did it with the help of the smash hit single "Africa."

Toto's musical mastery owes a lot to their prior experience, as the band members had been session musicians for artists such as Boz Scaggs, Steely Dan, and Seals and Crofts before starting the group. Their sonic signature has become the norm for pop music from the 1980s, and has influenced many contemporary artists.

The album opens up hard with tracks like Running Out of Time or Unknown Soldier that show the band's ability to write fantastic AOR tunes that slowly get into your head. The album also includes some jazzier, slower tracks like The Little Things and Chinatown. And the album ends with Great Expectations, a song that mixes folk with distortion AOR and should sound like a complete flop, but works wonderfully well.

After Toto IV, the band's fortunes took a turn for the worse. David Hungate left the band to focus on his solo career. The band had several drummers. In 1984, Bobby Kimball left the band following drug-related charges. The band remained with Michael Porcaro, Steve Lukather and Michael Porcaro.

Toto released Isolation despite the turbulence. It was not as popular as IV. The group managed to release an album that topped the charts, Kingdom of Desire, in 1992. The album marked the end of the original Toto lineup and was also the first album featuring the new singer, Simon Phillips.

Line-up

The album's third, Turn Back, marked an reversion to the classic sextet format of previous albums and was a stronger, more consistent effort that had a harder edge than Hydra. The edgier sound of Turn Back reflected the maturation in the group. Bobby Kimball's growing virtuosity was reflected by the vocal delivery of Joseph Williams, who had become more confident and mature. Keyboardist David Paich's work also was more refined, sharper and less cloned earlier recordings.

After touring to promote the album, the band recorded a live show in Amsterdam that was released as a two-CD set entitled Falling In Between Live on Eagle Records. A new studio album followed a few months later, and the band embarked on an extensive world tour in support of the album. In this time, keyboardist Greg Phillinganes filled in for Paich and bassist David Hungate left the group to spend more time with his family.

In 1998, Paich & Lukather began searching through old tapes & demos to discover songs that hadn't been recorded before. The album was released in 2001 as a double album titled Then & Now. It was the band's first album without one single track titled "A". The album also contained an previously unreleased track "Kari-Anne".

By 2003, Toto had begun to decline in popularity. The fourth album, Old Is New, was a commercial failure and singer Williams suffered from a bad laryngitis condition which limited his singing capabilities. In addition, Hungate returned to Nashville, while drummer Leland Sklar was replaced by Shem von Schroeck.

Downes, Wetton Palmer and Howe, the original members of Asia The original Asia members met in England in the early part of 2006 to discuss the possibility that the group could be revived. The group, which was missing Howe who was working with Yes at the time, became Toto XIV. They toured extensively.

In 2010, the band reunited for another reunion tour with a slightly different line-up, including guitarists Mike Porcaro and Steve Lukather, drummer John Pierce, bassist Shannon Forrest, and multi-instrumentalists Warren Ham and Dominique Taplin. The group also had a guest appearance by singer Michael McDonald, and a backing singer named Mabvuto Carpenter.
