Albums
Toto's discography consists of 13 studio albums and 4 live albums. There are also compilations. In addition to releasing original music, Toto has also done work with other artists and on soundtracks for films. The band has won multiple Grammy Awards for their work.
Before the formation of Toto the band, members performed sessions for other musicians. Drummer Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate, and keyboardist David Paich (the son of session percussionist Marty Paich and brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro) played on Boz Scaggs 1975 album Silk Degrees. The group's collaboration led to the formation of Toto in the year 1976.
The band's third album, Turn Back, marked an abrupt departure from the progressive sound of their earlier albums, and was criticised for its lack of hit singles. In 1985 the group's singer Fergie Frederiksen quit the group and the band held auditions to find the new frontman. The band selected guitarist Steve Lukather, and recorded Fahrenheit in 1986.
Toto released Toto XX in 1998 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the band. The group went through old recordings and tapes to create the album. The album was well-received by fans, and Toto began a tour with former members Bobby Kimball Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.
Shem von Schröck took over Leland Sklar as the drummer during the tour in support of the 40 Trips Around the Sun album. In the year 2017, Toto released the double-CD set Falling in Between. It included tour recordings as well as an interview with the group.
