Common readers of the location know that the higher administration is being shifted round here at Massively, meaning that Brianna Royce will now be in cost. Whereas we'll all the time miss Shawn Schuster's unmistakable voice and work on the positioning, the change will doubtless seem invisible to most readers.

I, for one, want to welcome our new overlord, for whom I have nothing but respect and admiration. By complete coincidence, this week's header picture occurs to be of her favorite animal. Additionally, I may have despatched a number of reward baskets of fruit to her home. And I'm certain we can all agree that earlier cases of tomfoolery should not be taken into account when she now considers that she has complete power over me.

Moving on from the welcoming of overlords, it is time for this week's installment of WRUP, that includes the Massively staff explaining our plans for the weekend as well as whether or not or not a graphical improve would deliver us again to our first MMOs. Take a look at our plans previous the break, and let us know what you will be up to in the comments!

@Beau_Hindman: I will be settling down on a brand new deed in Wurm On-line, continuing to grind my teeth as I watch for my new Pc to get here, and placing my exploration money where my mouth is by finally downloading IMVU. It is a social MMO that looks very... totally different. I am also nonetheless gathering my record of pre-World of Warcraft MMOs for protection. Luckily I still have most of my outdated accounts!

If I updated any graphics for a few of my favourite video games, that would mean a downgrade for many of them. I would like graphics that are more stylized, notably like those in Free Realms or Clone Wars Adventures. I'd like to see a "severe" recreation executed with a extra stylized aptitude. Wurm Online can stay how it's, but I actually want to see some new avatars. https://maimers.com/ do know they're coming, however boy, I can't wait!

@nyphur: This weekend I'll be entertaining a visiting Swedish pal from my previous World of Warcraft guild, working onerous on Predestination, and trying to convince my housemates to play extra Guild Wars 2!

My first MMO was RuneScape, and its graphical updates have really brought me back a number of occasions. I began again when it was a blocky world with 2-D goblin sprites, and the primary big 3-D replace hooked me again in for a number of months. I've returned periodically to see what the game is like, and the graphics are undoubtedly the first thing I search for. EVE On-line has the same impact, with large graphical updates pulling individuals again in to attempt the sport once more.

@nbrianna: I'll be dividing my recreation time between Guild Wars 2 and Metropolis of Heroes. Double XP is on completely in CoH, I hear, so it's the right time to roll up a brand new character in time for the Positron's Ally occasion subsequent week.

My first MMO was Ultima Online, and graphical upgrades did convey me back many occasions. That recreation has had more improved purchasers than any MMO I know... however these upgraded shoppers normally get abandoned by the crew earlier than they're completed as a result of a lot of the veterans simply refuse to switch. Very irritating!

@Eliot_Lefebvre: Metropolis of Heroes, Star Wars: The Previous Republic, and the ever-widespread Offering Help to a Liked One with a Chilly. Sooner or later I will really play Guild Wars 2 for greater than 10 minutes at a stretch. If I'm lucky, it will be earlier than the tip of the decade.

I'm really the fallacious particular person to ask about returning to a sport for a graphical upgrade because graphics have never been what's turned me off from a recreation. I did not initially go away Ultimate Fantasy XI because of the graphics; I left as a result of the game wasn't actually enjoyable to play. If I see indicators that the game I did not like X amount of time ago has gotten higher, I'll come working proper again, but putting a new coat of paint on a sport I wasn't having fun with does not lure me back.

@elixabethclaire: The secret World continues to be on pause for me as I commit my time to Guild Wars 2. I'd prefer to hit eighty by the middle of the upcoming week, so I will be doing quite a lot of PvE and WvW this weekend. I did not imply to, but I've obtained an entire agenda plotted out for my momentary "principal" after she hits 80, not to say a bit roster of who is in want of leveling after her.

Not a lot gaming for me this weekend. Perhaps some The secret World.

I go back and play all of my previous MMOs anyway regardless of updates, although I'm very much wanting ahead to Anarchy Online's eventual reskin.

@Sypster: My MMO to do listing is a mile large at this point. I actually need to put a cap on Quantity III E-book 6 in Lord of the Rings On-line, take a look at the new Autumn Festival in RIFT, get by means of Egypt in The secret World, and make the big bucks in Guild Wars 2.

As for graphical upgrades, effectively, if Anarchy Online ever gets that newfangled redux off the ground, then you may wager I will be first in line. It might be nice to see what a barely more updated AO would appear like.

@JayeRnH: This weekend I am busy with a household trip, but in any spare time I've, I'll log into RIFT and cling out next to Atrophinius within the Autumn instance simply to hear his hilarious voice-overs. Other than that, I am going to probably pop into Minecraft with the kids so we can work on our tree house.

My first MMO was EverQuest, and I'd be extra likely to return if the sport really reverted again to the previous graphics of avatars and revamped zones.

@mvmatt: This weekend is my roommate's birthday, so we've received some mutual pals coming to remain for the weekend. In consequence, my gaming time is probably going to be occupied extra by cut up-screen mayhem than MMO funtimes. But if the opportunity arises, I will be splitting my time between The secret World and Guild Wars 2.

And would I return to EverQuest or Ultima Online if both one got a graphical update? That's a good question. I want to say yes, but I don't know if I might be telling the truth. I cherished UO and EQ again in the day, however I feel it could take a bit more than a graphical improve to make me a player once more. For each charmingly dated function that I fondly remember, there is a plethora of really archaic design choices that I don't suppose I'd be ready to put up with.

@MJ_Guthrie: Oh my gosh! I get to recreation this weekend!! *virtually faints with pleasure* How a lot can I cram in? Let's see, the vote won't be in for Choose my Adventure, so The secret World will be on hold till Monday. (By the way in which, go vote!). To fill my weekend, I'm going to dive into GW2 extra (I actually need to take a look at an Asura), begin plotting extra for my EverQuest II neighborhood shopping district as well as take in a few dungeons, and spread my wings in Aion to finish up some quests and possibly even get a number of rounds of PvP Arenas in. I also plan on eating pizza. Mmm.

I would go back if they'd flip the blasted servers back on! (RIP Star Wars Galaxies.)

@mackeypb: I've been taking part in extra Touhou Hisoutensoku (not that any of you recognize what that's), in addition to League of Legends. I'm presently carrying as Graves, though I am pretty sure these studying my column already know that. It feels good to play more airdash fighters, although; I feel like a bit of a void has been filled in my gamer heart.

In order for me to go back to EQ, it will take a better sport, not a graphical replace. Really, graphical updates imply almost nothing to me. If the same EQ graphics as in 2000 had been on top of the GW2 engine, I would nonetheless be down for playing it. Excessive-quality graphics are a bonus, not a necessity.

@terilynns: I shall be jumping into Star Trek On-line this weekend to play a few Foundry missions to speak about on my UGC podcast. I will also be in Lord of the Rings Online as I discover it very stress-free to farm and craft in that game. If time allows, I shall be back in Glitch as effectively. And yes, the rumors are true: Some individuals are twisting my arm to offer Guild Wars 2 a attempt. I would pick it up this weekend.

I'm really glad this week's query does not apply to me. My first MMO continues to be my favourite, and it's a gorgeous game -- Star Trek On-line!

At the beginning of every weekend, we catch up with the Massively workers members and ask them, "What are you enjoying this week?" (Otherwise known as: WRUP!) Join us to see what we're as much as in and out of sport -- and catch us in the feedback to let us know what you are taking part in, too!
