When creating an Minecraft server, there are plenty of possibilities. This guides currently covers setting up a Survival Multiplayer Server without mods. We will be adding additional guides to assist you in setting up a server that has mods in the future.



Create a Vanilla Survival Multiplayer Server (MSP)



Follow these steps and you'll have an online Minecraft Java server running in the shortest amount of time.



1. Java can be downloaded and installed



You can download the latest version of Java from Oracle.



2. Download the Minecraft Server official Minecraft Server



This is minecraft.net's download page.



3. Create an appropriate folder for your Minecraft server



This folder can be named and positioned anyplace you'd like. It should be easy to locate and simple. I love calling the folder minecraft server and place it in my Home folder in my User folder.



4. Set up your Minecraft server folder



Transfer your downloaded server.jar file into the minecraft folder.



Windows: Create a new file called run.bat Making an automated (.bat) file in windows



On MacOS or Linux Create an entirely new file called run.sh.



Edit the file and set the text as your default text.



5. Create your server and then agree to the EULA



With your run file created Let's begin the server.



On Windows Double-click your run.bat folder



On MacOS or Linux Open the terminal in your minecraft server folder, and run bash ./run.sh.



The command line should show some logs, and your Minecraft server folder should be filled with new files and folders. Locate and open the eual.txt file. minecraft Replace eula=false with eula=true.



6. Run and connect to your server



After you have been approved by the eula, you can restart your server. Then, open Minecraft and connect using 127.0.0.1.25565. If you're not able to connect, make sure your server is running. If all is well and you're not sure why you cannot connect or connect, you can seek assistance on our discord.



7. Make your server available to the public
