Women's Timber Corps Logo design from 'The Land Woman' February 1943, p4 The Women's Lumber Corps was a different branch of the Women's Land Army and was begun in 1942 due to the German occupation of Norway triggering a lack of imported timber. This branch got even less acknowledgment than the typical Land Girl.

Their badge revealed a fir tree, rather than the sheaf of wheat for the Women's Land Army. More so in this kind of work, the females worked along with males who needed to teach them everything about chopping of the tree, through to filling it onto a lorry. The work didn't simply include the wielding of an axe, but also the competent work of measuring of trees and the endeavor of the administrative exercise in the forests.

This developed some barriers between the different branches of the Women's Land Army, as Land Girls often thought the Wood Corps had the 'soft option'. Nevertheless, as part of the interview process, Lumber Jills needed to pass a more stringent medical exam than Land Girls. Spenny and another Lumber Jill bring the trunk of a tree.
