Pittsburgh will play the 2024 Major League Baseball (MLB) home game against the San Francisco Giants at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on the 22nd (Korea time).

Ahead of the game, the Pittsburgh Pirates announced that it has registered Bae on the roster. He will immediately start as ninth batter and center fielder in the game against San Francisco.

In 111 games last season, Bae recorded a batting average of 0.231, two homers, 24 steals, 32 RBIs and 54 runs scored. Ahead of this season, he injured his hip in the spring camp and made the IL. Bae Ji-hwan showed off his hot batting performance with a batting average of 0.367 with four homers, seven steals, 15 RBIs, 23 runs scored, and OPS (on-base plus slugging) 1.030 in 27 Triple-A games.

Lee Jung-hoo (San Francisco) left due to injury, but as Bae Ji-hwan was promoted, the number of Korean players playing in the big league became two again along with Kim Ha-sung (San Diego Padres).
