What is a Poker Socialist?

Why is a poker socialist different from a conservative? How can the socialist cause possibly be the same as socialism? Are they mutually exclusive terms? Is socialism a bad thing?

Poker, one of the oldest and most popular games of all time, has been dubbed the "American Game". The American political movement has historically been a driving force for political change and progressive change in many arenas such as healthcare, taxes, etc. They are sometimes called the socialist movement because the principles of socialism have been proven to work better than capitalism and communism.

 

In the case of poker, the word "socialism" is used to denote an agenda that is in favor of the social welfare and economic equality of the American society. This has also been used to represent a political party.

 

Poker has been played by and for the rich for hundreds of years. It has been a time honored means for social mixing and social interaction. Those who grew up in societies with strict rules and social mores are the first to admit that poker has contributed to their development as individuals and society.

 

Poker has also served to enrich the game of Poker and allowed the average citizen to participate in the world of poker for the first time. The small step from being someone who only played poker at poker tournaments to becoming an ambassador of the game of poker is a very powerful one.

 

The Progressive Poker movement is also where the poker community saw the first signs of change. This was also the time when we started to see more than just a few new rules being enacted.

 

As time went on, we saw an increase in the amount of activism on the part of the activists and the political revolution became a lot more pervasive. The poker community saw a certain amount of friction, but that eventually faded away as more began to become involved in politics. Even today, this dynamic political movement is still not fully embraced by the majority of poker players.
