Origins: Ayurvedic therapy is based upon ancient Indian Ayurvedic medicine. The manipulation of pressure point points was used to heal the body. Ayurveda, a Sanskrit word, is the Sanskrit word ayurveda, which means knowledge and vedas, which means wisdom. Ayurvedic philosophy is passed down from India and derived both the literal and spiritual meanings for the name Ayurvedic massaging.

Ayurvedic massage techniques rely on the understanding that the life force 'Pran' flows through all living creatures. Carrier oils can be soybean oil or coconut oil, almond oil (or palm oil), sesame oil, and palm oil. These oils allow the massage therapist to easily penetrate their hands into the patient. You should also be aware that carrier oils can cause allergic reactions and irritation to sensitive skin. Use your intuition to make sure that the carrier oils you choose suit your needs.

Different herbs. The various herbs that are used in Ayurvedic massages are chosen for their soothing effects and medicinal purposes. Some of these herbs include: Kapha - this herb has long been known for its ability to calm and soothe the mind and body. Kapha is rich in many chemicals, including saponins. Massage the scalp with Kapha oils before you begin massage therapy. Kapha can be used to treat sunburnt skin, wounds and rashes.

Tulsi - This herb has long been used in Ayurvedic medicine to control mood and relieve stress. Tulsi oil is often used in massage therapy to promote relaxation and reduce stress. Tulsi stimulates blood flow and increases heart rate. Tulsi may be beneficial in lowering blood pressure, stress reduction, and other areas. Tulsi oil massaged into the scalp can lead to a significant reduction in stress-related disorders.

The lymphatic system. The lymphatic system is vital for many body functions, including the immune system and circulatory system. Massage therapists can stimulate the lymphatic system using gentle strokes to the neck and shoulders. For pain relief and stress associated to the lymphatic system, oils such as peppermint, Chamomile, or lavender are often used. Massaging with a blend of oils can also improve lymphatic drainage which allows the lymphatic system to carry waste products away from the body.

Deep tissue massage. This type massage is used for chronic tension in the muscles, connective tissues and joints. This massage aims to give the skin a more youthful appearance, increase flexibility, range of motion, and reduce swelling. It uses massage strokes that include: gentle strokes, kneading, tapping, squeezing, and tapping movements.
