Information if you are a Carer on writing your personal statement

You may wonder why there is specific advice for people in this situation, but it is because their life experiences may affect what they put on their personal statement.
Universities are keen to support all applicants, including those who are classed as carers, in their applications to university.

"A caregiver or informal caregiver is someone who regularly helps a person in their social network (e.g. a relative, neighbour, friend) with activities of daily living"

An example of this could be someone who may have a parent who is unwell for an extended period of time, and they are providing assistance with caring for that person.

A carer can be any age, and there are many different circumstances where someone can be classed as a carer.
