Tying the senses together
When starting to describe using the senses, you may need to focus on one sense at a time: look at your scene through sight, through sound, etc. But as you write, edit, and learn, you should aim to reach a point where you draw on more than one sense for a description.

A great way to improve in describing the senses is to experience them. Get out into the world, be aware of your senses, and reflect. You would most probably notice that you mostly focus on your sight, and that you focus on taste the least: this is a ratio you should try to copy in your writing.
All the senses have powerful, unique effects: so when you delve into your next creative writing task, remember to bring your words to life with sight, sound, smell, touch, and taste.
