What do you feel?

Name the emotion that you think is being described in each paragraph.

a) She smiled uncertainly as she thought of what the doorman said, "Someone special is arriving soon." A knock on the door, however, did not give her much time to think. "Come in!" As the tall man walked in, she froze. Her jaws dropped, and her eyebrows flew up. She would never have expected this.

b) Their muscles eased - tense no more. They inhaled a  breath of pristine seaside air: salty! Lying on the soft sand, exhaling a peaceful sigh, they grinned.

c) His whole body was shivering. He rushed into a nearby room and closed the door right behind him - making sure he locked it. The room was empty, and still yet he felt unsafe. Every moment he would look back behind him to check if anyone was there - if it was there. He can never be sure.

d) Lara gagged as the rancid scent wrapped around her. She needed to leave - now.

e) Simply thinking about the situation  gave him a headache. How is that young child his uncle? How is that woman, who is five years younger than him, his "mother"? How is his grandmother- Ah! Jason just couldn't understand. How?
