Sound

Sound is a strong sense.

If you walk into a dark room, you first perceive what you hear:

It's dark, and so a vague sense of tension, or suspense is formed.

Sound will then immediately fine-tune and alter the mood:

You hear loud and excited whispers: you expect a surprise party.

You hear faint screeching in the corner: you expect to see your cat!

  • A dim alley feels different if one hears party chatter, than if one is in thick silence.

Different sounds set rather different settings.
